MassageNet is excited to share that a new research participation opportunity is now open to our members which continues the prior launch of the National Study on U.S. Massage Therapists’ Experiences of Sexual Harassment and Assault by Clients.

This study is the second phase of the dissertation work of Candidate Morgan Richard, overseen by Dr. Lucia O'Sullivan at the University of New Brunswick in Canada. This work builds upon Candidate Richard's prior work on the same topic during phase I of the U.S.-based project, begun in April 2026, and replicates a prior study done with Canadian massage therapists¹.

The 2 data collection phases for this study consist of an interview (phase I) and survey (phase II). Phase I of the study is complete, and Candidate Richard is recruiting for phase II of the study now. All MassageNet member therapists are invited to participate - regardless of whether they have had these experiences or not. Participants must be a massage therapist in the United States, at least 19 years of age, and fluent in English. The survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
